Description

Captured ship: Walsingham of London (master John Chapman of Falmouth).

History: an English merchant ship (built in the Dutch Republic), bound from Virginia and Maryland to Falmouth and Amsterdam, laden with tobacco, and with several letters for delivery in England and the Netherlands; came into Falmouth on 3/13 May 1672 [and was there seized by the Deputy Vice-Admiral of the South Coast of Cornwall].

Court Papers, numbered CP 1-2:-

  • [CP 1]: one examination taken at Falmouth, 12 July 1672;
  • [CP 2]: claim regarding the ships William (master William Woolcott), Walsingham, Charity (master James Windsor) and Seven Stars (master John Basse), 27 September 1672.
