Description

Captured ships: two ships: Warrior of Akersloot, otherwise Guerrier, Krijgsman, Crisman [Chrisman] (master Jan Cornelissen Crisman of Akersloot) and Old Waggon or Oude Wagen of Amsterdam otherwise La Vieille Charrete (master Gerrit Symense of Staveren, otherwise Gert Sijmenss [Garret Symons]).

History of the Warrior: a Dutch merchant ship, bound from La Rochelle to Danzig, laden with salt; taken [by 1/11 April] [or 12-13/22-3 March] 1671/1672 [said to have been taken in the Smyrna Convoy action in the Channel] by HMS Concord (Francis Wilshaw, [otherwise Wilkshaw, Willshire, Willshaw] commanding) and brought into [London].

History of the Old Waggon of Amsterdam: a Dutch merchant ship ([fluit, 300 tons]), bound from La Rochelle and St Martin de Ré to Danzig, laden with salt [and brandy, taken before 29 March/8 April 1672 by [the hired naval auxiliary/transport, or privateer?] Noble Catherine of London, otherwise Noble Katherine (Charles Hayward, otherwise Howard, Haward, commanding) and brought into St Ives, Cornwall, on 29 March/8 April 1672].

  • [CP 1]: copy of entry of Royal Navy commission for Francis Wilshaw, HMS Concord, 15 January 1671/1672, used as HCA cover (empty) for Warrior;
  • [CP 2]: claim for Old Waggon [of Amsterdam], 5 April 1672;
  • [CP 3]: (French) certified copies of letters, 24 March-14 April 1672, for claims for Warrior and Old Waggon, 20 August 1672 (endorsed by HCA as only for Guerrier).
