Description

Captured ship: Vogel Grijp of Middelburg, otherwise Vogell Grip [Griffin] (commander Maerten Claesen of Flushing, otherwise Martin Clausen).

History: a Dutch privateer (100 tons, [10 guns], built in Portugal), bound on a cruise from [Middelburg?]; taken in fight (lasting about one and a half hours) on 8/18 February 1673/1674 about 9 leagues off Lands End, by HMS Dartmouth (Edward Pinn commanding) and brought into Plymouth on 11/21 February.

Court Papers, numbered CP 1-2:-

  • [CP 1]: standing interrogatories;
  • [CP 2]: three examinations taken at Plymouth, 12 February 1673/1674.
