Captured ship: Bachelor of Bridgwater (master George Kelsey, of Shoreham, Sussex; owners George Kelsey and Thomas Poole, both of Shoreham, and Alexander Atkins of Bridgewater).
Capture history: an English merchant ship (24 tons, [5] men), bound from La Rochelle and St Martin de Ré to Bridgwater, laden with wines, brandy, salt and Rosa Solis waters [otherwise Rosolio, believed to be an aphrodisiac]; taken about noon on 16/26 November 1673 about 8 leagues off the Scilly Isles and Lands End by the 14-gun Dutch privateer Fowl Grip otherwise Vogel Grijp or [Griffin] of Middelburg (Maerten Claessen otherwise Martin Clawson commanding); being driven by contrary winds, bad weather, the leakiness of the ship (which was ready to sink), and lack of provisions into Studland Bay, she came into port at Poole about 18/28 November 1673 and was there seized, being later brought into Weymouth with her lading.
