Nature of request
Roche shows that he was for a long time peaceably seised in right of his wife Melis of 5 messuages, 400 acres of land English with appurtenances in Chilbrook, Woon and Westva in his demesne as of fee until Bodrugan, accompanied with a great number of people arrayed for war, riotously came and entered the messuage and land and took distresses of his livestock, and continue to take the same, and have levied the rents of the same, and take the toll of tin by riot and force to the great hurt and damage of the petitioner to his disinheritance and utter undoing. Roche requests a remedy.1)

Nicholas Roche against Bodrugan.2) As to any riot or anything committed contrary to the king's [peace which the] within written bill surmised to be taken, Bodrugan says he is not [...], and as for any entry in any messuages or lands in Chilbrook, he says that William Bodrugan, his father, whose heir he is was seised of such estate there [...] by force of which etc., and as to the entry in Woon and Westva he answers that he did not enter them nor take any toll of tin or other profit other than what he and his ancestors have from time out of mind have taken. Because the matter touches Bodrugan's inheritance he requests licence by reasonable space to answer the premises.
