Proposed levy of quit rents on land titles: further to despatches no. 63 of 20 November 1873, no. 66 of 28 November 1873, and no. 3 of 3 February 1874 [CO 321/3/2] forwards a report from the acting colonial secretary of Tobago concluding that if the quit rents in Tobago were not wholly and permanently remitted in 1789 they have never been claimed since that date and are presumed to have no continuing legal existence.
