Payment of quit rents by persons holding Crown land: forwards letter from William Hepburn Rennie, lieutenant governor of St Vincent, detailing discussions on the matter held between 1790 and 1809, and recommending that the idea of enforcing quit rents on existing titles should be abandoned in favour of a new land tax. Encloses a copy of a petition on the subject considered by the St Vincent Legislative Council on 11 April 1788 and requests a copy of Sir Charles Brisbane's despatch to Lord Castlereagh, No. 40 of 1809.
