Folio 288: Stormont to Weymouth. A new intelligence channel states that Spain intends to support the rebels more openly and also meditates an attack on Portugal. This is in concert with France, who keeps in the background but has agreed to help Spain with 11 million livres, some of which has already been given to Aranda, who goes to Madrid to quicken military preparations. The secret assistance given to the rebels is no longer a secret.
