Description

Short title: Attorney General v Aldermen of Newark-upon-Trent.

Plaintiff(s): Attorney General.

Defendant(s): Aldermen and assistants, inhabitants of Newark-upon-Trent.

Subject of depositions: Right and title to tolls, of the borough of Newark and market therein, and profits of courts. Customs of borough. Metes and bounds. Survey. [A lease of such tolls, made (15 Eliz) by Bishop of Lincoln to Antony Foster, leases from the Queen (14 Eliz) to defendants of the profits of courts, and 17 Eliz to John White, assignment of same to Peter Roos, Thomas Wynne, Isabel, late Countess of Rutland, William Lord Burghley, Thomas Hartley, Christopher Haslam, Edward late Earl of Rutland, inhabitants of Northgate, His Majesty's six water corn-mills in Newark, Newark Castle, tithes of Stoke, prebend of Stoke, and John Francklyn, are mentioned].
