Receipts for Balances of Wages.
- 'Vol 4. Urgent (Commissariat Branch) Clyde No 2 and sundry other ships'.
- A book of pre-printed statements of accounts and receipts for the balances of wages due to men of the Army Works Corps Commissariat Branch on the termination of their service.
- These give the man's name, his number in the pay register, the amount paid and date, the man's signature or mark, and the name of the vessel in which he returned home. The men in this volume returned on the SS 'Urgent' (17 August 1856), SS 'Gibraltar' (17 August 1856), SS 'Bruiser' (18 August 1856) and SS 'Ara' [?] (4 September 1856).
- There are also eleven receipts for the payment of men in the Railway Branch, who returned on SS 'Clyde' (8 August 1856) and SS 'Echunga' (3 October 1856), and thirteen receipts for the payment of men who were sent home, invalided or died. The last group include forms detailing the relatives of William Woolfries, Alfred Benger and Francis May.
- At the back of the volume are a number of receipts for the payment of income tax deducted.
