Description (What the record is about)
-
This series contains all documents referred to in evidence at the Inquiry's public hearings or referred to in Inquiry reports. In addition, this series contains documents relevant to the Inquiry’s investigation that were disclosed to core participants.
Most of the evidence received by the Inquiry pre-dates the establishment of the Inquiry itself. Where physical documents were scanned and provided to the Inquiry in digital format, the dates reflect the dates of the original records.
This series includes content that reflects the trauma and distress experienced by those who received or were affected by the use of infected blood and infected blood products.
-
Arrangement (Information about the filing sequence or logical order of the record)
-
Evidence was managed within a document management system. Each document was given a unique reference number to assist the Inquiry with identifying the source material. Inquiry reports, transcripts and videos of public hearings use these reference numbers to refer to the evidence.
Files are arranged in folders, reflecting different categories of evidence.
References for born-digital records are automatically generated and display a 'Z' (either at the start of the piece reference or at the end), which distinguish them from traditional references allocated to paper and digitised records.

- All evidence that was deemed relevant to the terms of reference and disclosed to core participants has been selected for permanent preservation according to the direction and wishes of the Inquiry Chair. Some evidence provided to the Inquiry was redacted in line with the Inquiry's General Restriction Order (GRO) which stated that it would remain in force for the duration of the Inquiry and at all times thereafter, unless otherwise ordered. In these instances, the Inquiry did not keep the unredacted versions. Only the redacted versions have been preserved as part of the Inquiry's permanent record.
