Captured ship: Bachelor of Hull [otherwise Batselaar] (master William Idle, prize master Adrian van Dort of Flushing).
Capture history: an English ship, bound from New York (then occupied by the Dutch under Cornelis Evertson) to Cadiz, where it was retaken in March 1674 by Idle with its Dutch cargo of sugar and tobacco, but with no water or provisions. See HCA 32/1945/19 for the capture.
No 8: allegation and claim of William de Pester. John de Pester, factor, was born in the Dutch Republic, a subject of the States-General. William de Pester laded the goods after the Dutch capture of New York, some on the account of Dutch subjects in the Dutch Republic. Following the capture of the city, John de Pester had delivered all English-owned goods then in his hands to Admirals Binckes and Evertsen, including some belonging to Sir George Cartret [Carterett].
