Description

Folios 303-304: Joseph Short, [Regulating Officer], Wells [Wells-next-the-Sea]. Reports that as directed he came here to enquire of Lieutenant Thomas Chambers by what authority he holds the Command of the John & Mary Tender. Her having been ordered to be discharged in October 1796, his answer he encloses.

Folios 305-306: enclosure with folios 303-304. [Note] No orders have ever been given to pay off the Charring[?] Nelly Tender. State whether the orders were or were not omitted by mistake to be sent to the Navy Board or whether for any reason they were ordered to be withheld. He cannot trace out anything upon the subject - more than by the Navy Board letter dated the 10 October 1796 - it was stated" she might be discharged whenever it might br thought proper".

Folios 307-308: enclosure with folios 303-304. Thomas Chambers, John & Mary Render, Wells [Wells-next-the-Sea] Harbour. To Joseph Short, Regulating Officer, Lynn [Kings Lynn]. Dated 5 June 1798 . [Explanation on why he holds the Command of the John & Mary Tender].
