Folios 287-288: Joseph Short, [Regulating Officer], Lynn [Kings Lynn]. Covering letter for the enclosed [not present] weekly return and inform that in consequence of their order for a General Impress on Friday night Lieutenant William Dalton and himself examined every vessel in the Harbour but without success for there was between thirty and forty Colliers there were none that had occasion for a ships protection being manned with invalids and apprentices. He then with Lieutenant William Dalton and the whole of the Gang (Except a Midshipman and one man who had gone to Norwich for the deserter according to their Lordships Orders) went over land to Wisbech-Wash about thirteen miles from here and boarded several vessels laying there when he got three Seaman two of which entered immediately. He request approval to allow the expenses to Wisbech-Wash to be charged in Lieutenant William Dalton's and his accounts. He encloses a copy of their order immediately to Lieutenant Thomas Chambers and also direct Lieutenant Seymors [John Seymour] who went to Wells [Wells-next-the-Sea] yesterday to use every exertion in putting it in execution.
