Folios 221-222: Charles Robinson, Meon Stoke, Droxford, Hampshire. Responds to the request for a certificate of his service so that he can be considered for retirement at Greenwich. He has been trying to secure this, but has been delayed by Mr Hunter's office being busy. Recalls that after long service the late Earl Howe, when First Lord of the Admiralty, promised him promotion as long as his father did not appeal to His Majesty about having been passed over for flag rank during the promotion of 1787, as various senior officers including Lord Bridport, Lord Hood, Admiral Cornwallis or Sir John Colpoys should be able to recall. His health will never recover from his barbarous treatment while a prisoner of war.
