Folios 100-101: Wilson Rathbone, HMS Santa Margarita, off [Borat ?] to Admiral the Earl St Vincent, Commander in Chief, Channel Fleet. Reports that because of the declaration by Thomas Woods, now under sentence of death, he has examined his ship's books for the last nine years and finds no mention of anyone called Wilmot, and so believes he must have used another name. The only sign of the other name during Woods' time is William Williams, who served as a Marine aboard HMS Somerset, was invalided from that vessel and lived in Sudbury, Herefordshire, until he re-enlisted in the Marines and served aboard HMS Bienfaisant. He joined the Santa Margarita at Sheerness in 1803. Encloses [not present] a list of 14 men who served aboard in Woods' time when the ship was in the West Indies, whom he suggests need to be examined closely.
