Captured ship: St François or Francis of Brest (master João Consalvo de Lymo or pehaps Denis Jourdeau).
History: a Portuguese or French merchant ship (60 tons) bound from Camaret to Calais or Dieppe, laden with salt and wine; taken on 7/17 May 1696 off the Isle de Batz by HMS Garland (Thomas Robinson commanding) and brought into Falmouth.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 13, customs papers, legal articles agreed between England and Portugal, accounts, bill of health, ship's pass, letters. Some of these papers relate to earlier voyages by the crew, some of which list the pilot Denis Jourdeau as master.
