Description

Captured ship: Angel Raphael, previously Mermaid (master Michael Lentz).

History: a Lubeck ship (100 tons), bound from Bourgneuf to Lubeck, laden with salt, wine and vinegar; taken in July 1689, off Ushant by HMS Kingfisher ([Jasper Hicks] commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 3]: standing interrogatories, copy of interrogatories, and examinations taken at Plymouth;
  • [CP 4]: claim of Harman Bilderbeck;
  • [CP 5]: commission of appraisement, and appraisement of the cargo valued at £88 6s 6d;
  • [CP 6-CP 7]: attestation from Lubeck, with translation;
  • [CP 8]: abstract of 4 ships papers (these papers were restored).

[Decision: restored, 9 August 1689; appealed]
