William Richard STOKER: British. In the early 1920s it became apparent that STOKER, a long standing socialist, was an active communist. He spent the 1930s in the Soviet Union managing collective farms, but returned to the UK in 1939. He was a close friend of the long-serving Communist Party leader Harry Pollitt, who attended his funeral. With photograph
