William Richard STOKER: British. In the early 1920s it became apparent that STOKER, a long standing socialist, was an active communist. He spent the 1930s in the Soviet Union managing collective farms, but returned to the UK in 1939. His views in later years are unclear but he remained a close friend of Harry Pollitt the Communist Party leader in the 1950s
