Captured ship: Nelly (master Fordem Pease).
Nationality: American.
History: bound from Philadelphia to L'Anse-a-Veau, Saint Domingue, laden with fish, lard, tobacco and pork; taken on 7 December 1797 by HMS Thorn (John Hamstead commanding), and brought into Jamaica.
Appellant: The master on behalf of John West merchant of Philadelphia.
Respondent: The captor.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 22 July 1801 (folios 166-177).
Decision: to be restored.
