Description

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Tortola.

Captured ship: Drei Freunde otherwise Three Friends (master John Frederick Frey).

Nationality: Bremen.

History: bound from Bremen to St Thomas, laden with French wines, vinegar, linen, hams, soap, bacon, stockings, cheese, thread and dry goods; taken on 22 February 1797 by the privateer Experiment (Henry Richardson Fisher commanding), and brought into Tortola.

Appellant: C A Gerdes the supercargo on behalf of Messrs J Thorspecken and Benand, Bremen merchants.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 22 July 1801 (folios 120-147).

Decision: to be restored.
