Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Martinique.
Captured ship: Theresia otherwise Jungfer Teresia (master Peter John Edens).
Nationality: Danish.
History: bound from Hamburg to Surinam, laden with bricks, lime, cement, bords, posts, provisions, corn, liquors, tar, pitch, coals and dry goods; taken on 27 October 1797 by the privateer Experiment (John Hancock commanding), and brought into Martinique.
Appellant: The master for the ship, and on behalf of himself and Cornelius Otto Schutt merchant of Hamburg, for the cargo.
Respondent: The captor.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 21 June 1800 (folios 140-155).
Decision: ship and cargo to be restored, but the cause of seizure was just, and appellants to costs in both courts.
