Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Dominica.
Captured ship: Abigail (master William McCarty).
Nationality: American.
History: bound from London and Guernsey to Surinam, laden with divers goods; taken on 24 September 1796 by HMS Thorn (John Hampstead commanding), and brought into Martinique.
Appellant: Samuel Nicholas the supercargo, on behalf of himself, the late master and of Gilbert Imlay of Westerland, Virginia.
Respondent: The captor and HMPG.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 17 May 1800 (folios 67-86).
Decision: claim admitted, further proof required.
