Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of St Kitts.
Captured ship: Sydney (master James Parker).
Nationality: American.
History: bound from Surinam to Baltimore, laden with sugar, coffee and cotton; taken about 14 April 1797 by the privateer Portland's Prize (John Shaw commanding), and brought into St Kitts.
Appellant: The master on behalf of Messrs Samuel and John Smith, and Messrs Samuel Smith, Buchanan and Ralt, merchants.
Respondent: The captor.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 10 May 1800 (folios 15-36).
Decision: against the appeal, appellant condemned in costs of the appeal.
