Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Tortola.
Captured ship: Friendship (master John Robinson).
Nationality: Danish.
History: bound from Surinam to St Thomas, laden with cotton and coffee; taken on 20 December 1795 by HMS Bulldog (John Hop commanding), and brought into Tortola.
Appellant: John Vetter, merchant of St Thomas.
Respondent: The captor and HMPG.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 10 May 1800 (folios 37-46).
Decision: ship and cargo restored, but further proof (production of letter) required for the time on which knowledge of British hostilities against the Dutch reached St Thomas.
