Captured ship: Silver Crown of Amsterdam, master Hendrick Cornelius.
History: bound from St Martin to Gothenburg, laden with salt, vinegar, wine, woollen cloth and paper; taken on 20 March 1667 (having cast several papers overboard) between Portland and the Gasketts by a privateer (Nicholas Carew commanding) and brought into Studland Bay.
Documents: examinations taken at Poole, including a contradictory identification by Alexander Woodson, surgeon of Deptford, of the ship and master as a slave trade ship he had been aboard in Curacao in May [1663 or 1664] bringing enslaved people from Angola or Guinea to the [Caribbean or Americas].
