Description

Captured ship: Golden Angel or Vergulden Engel of Stralsund, master Hans Lucht.

History: bound from Bordeaux to Hamburg, laden with brandy, French wines and preserved lemons; off Portland they met with De Ruyter's fleet, and the master was taken on board the flagship and given a packet of letters by De Ruyter to deliver to Hamburg, and one for his wife; taken in July 1667 by the privateer Penelope (George Canning commanding) and brought into Dover.
