Captured ship: La Vierge de la Miséricorde of Marseilles (master Pierre Vidal or Vedal).
History: a French merchant ship (100 tons, 16 men), bound from Smyrna to Marseilles, laden with silk, oil, wine and mohair; taken in late 1744 off 'Costaco' by HMS Revenge (George Berkley commanding) with the merchant ships Bacchus (Robert Taverner commanding), Ann (Richard Harman commanding) and Dursley Galley (Edward Champion commanding), and brought first into Leghorn [Livorno] and then into London.
