Description

Captured ship: L'Espérance of Grandville (master Jacques Le Peltier).

History: a French merchant ship (300 tons, 15 guns, 40 men), bound from Cette to Le Havre, laden with wine, brandy and oil; taken on 14/25 May 1744 in latitude 41º by the privateers Fame (Philip Comyn commanding) and Winchelsea (John Gerald commanding), and brought into Lisbon.
