Captured ship: Swan of Philadelphia (master Jacob Bennett).
History: an American merchant ship (schooner, 60 tons, 2 guns, 9 men), bound from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Cadiz, laden with tobacco and staves; taken on 28 August 1779 in latitude 37°40'N, longitude 73°40'W by the privateer Spitfire (Cornelius White commanding), and brought into New York.
Court papers: 1-5; Ship's papers: 6.
