Description

British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.

Captured ship: Swallow of Providence (master William Malen).

History: an American merchant ship (sloop, 25 or 45 tons, 6 men), bound from Turks Island to Providence, Rhode Island, laden with salt; taken on 7 October 1782 off Block Island by HMS Quebec (Christopher Mason commanding), and brought into New York.

Court papers: 1-7; Ship's papers: 8-10.
