Captured ship: Rouilhac of Bordeaux (master Pierre Bonalogue, owners Messrs Reculès de Basmarein, Raimbaux & Cie).
History: a French merchant ship (brigantine 90 or 140 tons, 2 guns, 11 men) bound from Virginia to Bordeaux, laden with tobacco; taken on 25 August 1778 off Cape Charles, Virginia by HMS Richmond (John Lewis Gidoin commanding) and HMS Amazon (Maximilian Jacobs commanding) and brought into New York.
