Captured ship: La Légère of Bordeaux (master Jean Large).
History: a French merchant ship (220 tons, 4 guns, 8 swivels, 25 men), bound from Bordeaux to Saint Domingue, laden with salt, bale goods, brandy, nails, steel, window glass, tea, ship anchors, hats, shoes; taken on 10 January 1779 in latitude 44°30'N, by the privateer Tartar (John Gibson commanding), and brought into Milford Haven.
Court papers: 1-2; Ship's papers: 3-9. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
