Folios 68-69: Donald McLeod, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Replying to Admiralty letter of 9 July states that the books at the Rendezvous show William Collins was impressed by Lieutenant Potter, on 2 July as an Ordinary aged 23 years, 5ft 9in high and born in Ireland. Was taken on information from a woman who said she was his wife of 9 months and that he belonged to a Man of War.
In reply to Admiralty letter of 13 July states James Clark was impressed by Lieutenant Potter on 1 July as an Able Seaman aged 27 years, 5ft 8in and was born in County of Portland. The documents say he knew nothing of Edgar Town, where protection says he was born, and Edgarton is in Dukes County.
Jeffrey Williams was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 5 July as an Able Seaman aged 22 years, 5ft 11in high and says was born in Chelsea. He was due to go in the Howard of Baltimore. The Owner, Master and Jeffrey Willaims, Mate of the ship, were all natives of Scotland. He was taken on shore at 10pm.
James Powell was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 8 July as an Ordinary Seaman, aged 30 years 5ft 5ins high and born in St Bartholomews. He produced a Certificate dated 1805 stating he was a citizen of America, but he says he was native of St Bartholomews.
John Young was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 26 June as an Able Seaman, aged 30 years, 5ft 2 3/4in high and says he was born in Wiscasset. He appeared before Captain Carter and said that his name was not Young but Polundell and that he served his time with Moses Benson, merchant of Liverpool.
John Wainer was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 21 June as an Able Seaman aged 28 years, 5ft 9 1/2in high and said was born in New Bedford. Said the Americans were his protection.
Thomas Jefferson was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 31 May 1810 as an Ordinary Seaman, aged 30 years, 5ft 9in high and said was born in New York. Came in the Hazard and had no protection.
John Marchant was impressed by Lieutenant Raye on 29 June as an Ordinary Seaman aged 22 years, 5ft 3 1/2in high and said was born in Suffolk County. The Master of the Maria said he was native of Ireland but obtained protection in New York.
The cases of the following were reported by Captain Carter in his letters to the Admiralty: John Grozer, James Sayward and John [?] letter of 26 May 1810, John D. Hoyt letter of 22 May 1810 and John Brown letter of 28 June 1810.
Folios 70-72: enclosure with folios 68-69. Letter from J Meddowcroft, Grays Inn to the Admiralty dated 6 July 1810. Encloses Affidavit in respect of William Collins. Affidavit given by Robert Macfarland of Liverpool, Foreman to the Liverpool Glass Work Company, and David Price, Journeyman at the same company. State that David Collins was born in Saint Saviour's Parish, London. Gives details of his life since taken to Ireland by his father when a child to his return to England in February 1810. When in Ireland worked for Mr Gakhell, Glass Manufacturer and as Journeyman for Messrs Graham and Company. Affidavit signed before Thomas Golightly.
