Folios 53-54: Eyles Mounsher, HMS Drake, Sheerness Harbour. Replying to Admiralty letter of 5 July requesting explanation as to why he did not order a survey to be taken of the late Carpenter's Stores in accordance with Article 19 of his Instructions. Did not do so because the Carpenter was left behind at North Yarmouth on 22 June 1809. He sailed on a cruise off the Texel and did not return to any anchorage in England until 30 August following. Nearly the whole time he was a single ship and on arrival at North Yarmouth, not finding the Carpenter there, made application to the Port Admiral for a survey on remaining stores, which was granted. In circumstances hopes a dispensing order from 9 December 1808 to 31 December 1809 will be granted.
