Folio 185-186: John Bazely, HMS Overyssel, the Downs. Is sending a letter from James Derby, Carpenter, who asks to removed into Ordinary, due to his age. Asks that this be done, his abilities are well known to Sir William Rule.
Folios 186-188: enclosure in folios 185-186. Letter dated 17 October 1799 by James Derby, Carpenter, HMS Overyssel, to Captain John Bazely, HMS Overyssel, Deal. Asks to be removed to a ship in Ordinary due to his age, 63, and infirmity he cannot do his duty on a ship at sea and he has family depending on him. He has 25 years service as a Carpenter.
