1 individual petition (J J Lockhart, prosecutor) on behalf of Job Waldron, thresher, convicted at Wiltshire Special Assizes in December 1830 for robbing J J Lockhart of half a sovereign. Gaoler's report: character not known. Ground for clemency: wife and 6 children to support, excellent character previously, not violent man, money taken from bailiff, part of mob but not ring leader, good example for other farm labourers in area if mercy shown. Initial sentence: death commuted to 14 years' transportation. Annotated: nil. NP 34
