Description

1 individual petition (John Brasher [John Brusher] prosecutor) and 1 collective petition (6 people) with accompanying letter from Fanny Shergold wife on behalf of Henry Shergold convicted at Wiltshire Special Assizes in December 1830 for destroying machinery. Grounds for clemency: 5 children to support, prosecutor thinks sentence too severe. Initial sentence: death commuted to life transportation. Annotated: embarked on the Eleanor for New South Wales. NP 28
