1 individual petition (prisoner) on behalf of William Reading convicted at the Westminster Sessions on 2 December 1830 for obtaining goods by false pretences from Bricknell and Furness, wax chandlers. Gaoler's report: character not known. Grounds for clemency: parents brought him up to be honest and industrious but he rebelled, if sent to penitentiary could learn a trade to earn a living when released. Initial sentence: 7 years' transportation. Annotated: nil, ordered to hulks 'he had better not go to the penitentiary'. NP 17
