1 individual petition (prisoner) and 1 collective petition (5 members of the Mann family) on behalf of Jane Rayden convicted at the Old Bailey in December 1830 for stealing £20 Bank of England note from the house of John Mann. Grounds for clemency: reduced to crime through destitution, deserted by husband who stole all her clothes so she contracted debts buying clothes and food, parents too poor to help, previous good character. Initial sentence: death commuted to life transportation. Annotated: considered at Report in Council 2 March 1831. NP 16
