- Folio 449. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, acknowledging his letter of 13 July regarding the cases of John Wetherall, of Lambley, his wife and six children, and Maria Williamson, of Arnold, whose husband has deserted her with two children. Under the circumstances they sanction the relief given to Williamson. The overseer gave relief to Wetherall as it was a case of sudden and urgent necessity. They therefore sanction this relief but would not do so again. Paper Number: 7867/B/1841. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
