Description
Content
Folio 48. Letter from Charles Hart, Secretary to the Liverpool Select Vestry to the Poor Law Board. The Industrial School Committee has considered your letter of the 13 February 1851 with reference to the use of beds recommended by you but which the Committee considered objectionable. The objection of the Committee to the use of these beds is the liability of drawers underneath to become offensive. Annotated: [Alfred Austin, Poor Law Inspector] 1 March 1851 [George Nicholls, Secretary to the Poor Law Board]. The drawers are liable to become offensive if neglected but if duly attended to will preserve their cleanliness and sweetness and in that case the beds can be kept in a much better condition. Treat as urgent. Write to this effect. Austin. 2 March 1851. Write to them. Nicholls. 3 March 1851. Paper Number: 10389/1851. Poor Law Union Number 220. Counties: Lancashire.
