Description
Content
Folios 15-16. Letter from N J Wakem, Churchwarden of the Borough of Tregony, to the Poor Law Commission on behalf of the vestry and overseers. He refers to the Commissioners' letter of 4 September 1834 and asks if the weekly relief granted to the aged and infirm and to children, in and out of the poor house, should continue. The poor house has only 10 single rooms and as it 'affords no convenience for supplying the inmates with food', they presume they must continue to give relief in money. As winter is approaching and they expect applications from unemployed families, they need to know whether to allow this relief. Annotated: draft letter to be sent with a circular letter to overseers, which with the letter of 4 October 1834, will give them all the information they need. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
