1 collective petition (22 people from Somersham, Suffolk) on behalf of Charlotte Askew convicted with William Hills at Colchester Quarter Sessions in October 1831 for stealing money. Grounds for clemency: respectable and industrious parents, good character until left home and came under bad influence of William Hills who encouraged her to commit crime, young age of 17, repentant now. Initial sentence: 7 years' transportation. Gaoler's report: character unknown. Annotated: to penitentiary. KQ 1
