1 individual petition (Sophia Evans, the prisoner's mother) and 1 collective petition including 2 testimonies (15 residents) on behalf of David Pitchford, apprentice blacksmith convicted at the Staffordshire Quarter Assizes in January 1835 for stealing a horse belonging to Isaac Cartwright. There is also a covering letter from Sophia Evans. Grounds for clemency: first offence, young age, led astray by bad company, previous good character. Gaoler's report: character bad, connected with Birmingham thieves. Initial sentence: life transportation. Annotated: nil. AV 50
