Description

1 individual petition (Mary Cook, prisoner's wife) on behalf of Charles Cook convicted at York Lent Assizes March 1834 for highway robbery against James Richardson on 28 December last. Evidence provided by affidavit from George Pallister of Sowerby, Yorkshire Grounds for clemency: prosecutor claimed did not know any of 4 men who attacked him, witness George Pallister who saw prosecutor after attack not called to give evidence at trial. Initial sentence: death. Annotated: day of execution 26 April, 'no grounds for interfering'. AT 14
