Evidence provided by affidavit from George Pallister of Sowerby, Yorkshire Grounds for clemency: prosecutor claimed did not know any of 4 men who attacked him, witness George Pallister who saw prosecutor after attack not called to give evidence at trial. Initial sentence: death. Annotated: day of execution 26 April, 'no grounds for interfering'. AT 14
