1 individual petition (prisoner) on behalf of George Thomas, shoemaker, tried at York Lent Assizes on 20 March 1824 for murder of his seven month old child and acquitted on the grounds of insanity but ordered to remain in custody. Grounds for clemency: wife and two children to support. Has been restored to sound mind. Surgeon's certificates as to prisoner's state of mind. Depositions from George Champney, surgeon and prison governor and deputy as to the prisoner's state of mind. Annotated: nil. MK47
