2 collective petitions (the prisoner's parents John Johnson and Catherine Johnson, and 21 inhabitants of Manchester) on behalf of Thomas Johnson aged 18 convicted at Salford Quarter Sessions in October 1821 of an unspecified offence. Grounds for clemency: parents are weavers who have worked hard and are of good character. Son is very near sighted. Got into bad company and was led astray. Initial sentence: transportation for 14 years [7 years transportation]. Annotated: 'Nil.' MH36
