2 individual petitions (the prisoner and John Wells, prosecutor)and 1 collective petition (10 inhabitants of Old Brompton) on behalf of Charles Thompson convicted at Surrey Quarter Sessions in January 1822 of theft of a cruet, two glasses and two milk jugs valued at six shillings the property of John Wells of Kingston upon Thames. The crime was committed on 13 November 1821. Grounds for clemency: previous good character. Employed as a nurseryman and market gardener with his mother at Old Brompton. Mother and father distressed and will be unable to continue in their profession without their son. Initial sentence: transportation for 7 years. Annotated:' Nil.' MH36
